10.29 This Week I Watched: Friends

The Friends show is about "that special time in your life when your friends are your family. As you can tell from the heading this week I watched all 10 seasons of Friends. As a viewer I felt like I was the 7th member of the clan, along with Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Rachel and Ross. The producers David Crane and Marta Kauffman did an excellent job making the viewers feel like they were apart of the whole experience. It was truly amazing that how all of the main characters have different personalities, backstories and interests but, somehow they make a perfect group of friends. For example Phoebe Buffay is a free-spirited person who is corky masseuse, who had a hard childhood after her mother committed suicide. She basically grew up on the streets, where she became a sucky guitarist but it is her passion. Joey Tribbiani is a Italian aspiring actor who has been in multiple low budget films but he best work was him in "Days of Our Lives" as Dr. Drake Ramoray. He's a food-loving womanizer who has had more luck with dates than any of the other group members. In contrast to his "ladies man" personality, he has also a childish side. He enjoys playing video games and foosball, loves sandwiches and pizza, and is a big fan of Baywatch. Rachel Green a self-conscious girl who had gotten a nose job to make her seen "prettier". The once spoiled rich girl but after running away from her fianace during their wedding , struggled to become independent. She was in love with fashion and struggled to get a job, later she worked at the Central Park ( the highly populated hang out spot for them all ) after working there she acquired a job being an assistant at Fortunata Fashions, then buyer and personal shopper at Bloomingdale's, and finally at Ralph Lauren. Ross is considered by many to be the most intelligent member of the group and is noted for his goofy but lovable demeanor. Ross is a paleontologist and has a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Ross is the elder brother of Monica Geller. Ross and Monica are Jewish and see themselves as at least cultural Jews, with Ross taking a more active role in wanting to teach his son, Ben, about the faith. Throughout the whole series, Ross gets divorced 3 times. Monica a well chef known for her cleanliness, competitiveness and obsessive-compulsive nature, Monica is the younger sister of Ross Geller and best friend of Rachel Green. The once overweight child and teen had a hard time making friends other than Rachel as a child. After being called fat from Chandler in her teens , she worked really hard to lose weight and tried even harder to keep it off. Monica was super responsible and organized, seemingly like the mother in the group. Monica had a complicated relationship with her parents Jack and Judy Geller, particularly with her "hypercritical" mother. Possessing a very strong will, she tends to exhibit outstanding perseverance when it comes to what she expects out of her relationships, jobs, and life in general, oftentimes refusing to settle for anything less than what satisfies her. Early in the series, Monica develops a reputation for experiencing bad luck and encountering rather unfortunate circumstances when it comes to dating, romantic relationships, and her love life. Chandler Bing the only child and whose parents announced their divorce to him over Thanksgiving dinner when he was nine years old, an event which causes him to refuse to celebrate the holiday in his adulthood and develop his notorious sense of humor as a defense mechanism. Chandler is afraid of commitment and had the fewest relationships out of all the Friends. He suffers from commitment issues, brought on by growing up in a broken home with no idea of what a stable marriage looks like, can be extremely defensive, with humor as his shield Despite all this, he is the first one to have a committed marriage that doesn't end in divorce.Chandler works in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, which he takes up as temporary work. Despite disliking his job, Chandler stays because they keep giving him promotions and raises, eventually becoming boss to his old workmates. His friends do not understand what he does but is loved by them all. Stay tune to learn more about these friends relationships in my next post. THANKS FOR READING !!
